Certified Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) instructor and a professional American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter: Autumn Daniel
Autumn Daniel is a certified Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) instructor and a professional American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter at Amarillo College in Amarillo, Texas. Since beginning her interpreting career in 2014, Daniel has specialized in supporting deaf and hard-of-hearing students within the trucking program, combining her instructional expertise with her language skills to create an accessible and inclusive learning environment.
Over the years, she has assisted more than a dozen deaf students in successfully navigating both the classroom and behind-the-wheel portions of CDL training. Her role extends beyond direct interpretation, she also bridges the gap between technical trucking terminology and ASL, ensuring that students fully grasp industry standards, safety regulations, and operational procedures. Through her work, Daniel has played an instrumental role in helping these students achieve CDL certification and launch careers in professional driving, contributing to greater diversity and accessibility within the transportation sector.
