Deaf Truckers United (DTU) - Statement of Clarification and Response to DPT

To the Administrators and Members of DPT,

Deaf Truckers United (DTU) finds it necessary to directly address recent concerns, accusations, and ongoing misconduct originating from your group. This statement is intended to set the record straight, reaffirm our position, and call for accountability. DTU operates on principles of transparency, integrity, and respect, principles we expect to be honored not only within our organization but also in the manner in which other groups engage with us.

We strongly encourage all parties to review DTU’s bylaws, which are publicly available under the Documents section of our website. These bylaws establish clear expectations for member conduct: members must engage with professionalism, avoid conflicts of interest, and refrain from harmful or unethical behavior. Members are expected to hold themselves accountable, act fairly, and ensure that their conduct aligns with DTU’s mission and values. These standards are not optional; they are essential to preserving the integrity of our organization.

Recently, one of our members made the following statement, which we fully support:

“I am sorry to say this, but your video is being used in a cruel and harmful manner against Deaf Truckers United (DTU), and DPT has allowed it to remain posted in its group. The video displays an unwanted symbol targeting DTU, damaging its reputation, its operations, and the broader Deaf trucking community. This is not the first occurrence; similar incidents have happened multiple times, and it must stop. Additionally, DPT has been taking information from DTU and reposting it within your group, raising serious concerns regarding conflict of interest and potential copyright violations. These actions are wrongful and disrespectful. Has DTU ever done the same to other groups? No. DTU follows the rules, and it is disappointing to see that DPT enforces rules on its members while failing to follow them itself. This is another example of wrongdoing and disrespect. This situation is disheartening and unacceptable.”

This statement reflects the frustration and disappointment of many DTU members who have witnessed repeated misconduct by DPT.

The tension initially escalated when a DTU member was referred to DPT under the false claim that DTU administrators were not addressing their concerns. In reality, our administrators provided thorough, extended guidance to support this member. Documented screenshots clearly demonstrate that the individual’s needs were actively addressed. Yet this situation was distorted by DPT, resulting in misrepresentation and raising serious questions regarding dishonesty and potential fraudulent behavior.

We must also address the inconsistency in your handling of videos: Why are videos by Brandon Londo and Brandon Soto, which openly disparage certain members and organizations, allowed to remain in DPT, while Christa Butner’s video, which did not attack anyone, was promptly removed? All administrators were aware of these disparaging videos, yet the only response was to advise members to “ignore them” and “scroll past.” By permitting these videos to remain, you did not merely overlook them, you legitimized them. This double standard is deeply troubling and suggests intentional targeting, favoritism, and selective enforcement of rules. Such actions expose administrators as complicit in unethical conduct.

We also raise concern regarding a video currently posted in DPT containing a symbol that negatively impacts DTU’s reputation, operations, and the wider Deaf trucking community. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident, and we respectfully request that steps be taken to prevent further occurrences.

Let us be clear: DTU maintains a strict standard. Materials shared within our group remain within the group and are not to be copied, reposted, or exploited without permission. The proper course of action, if you wish to use DTU materials, is to request authorization. Taking credit for others’ work, voices, or contributions, or using them to promote your own group, is unethical and unacceptable.

We have observed content originating from DTU being reposted in DPT without permission, raising potential issues regarding copyright, ownership, and conflict of interest. DTU has not engaged in such practices and is committed to respecting other groups’ work and following established guidelines.

For DPT to characterize DTU’s materials as “stolen” is false, misleading, and disingenuous. This is not a matter of theft; it is a matter of respect, for our members, our administrators, and the integrity of our organization.

Even within your own group, many members are beginning to question your practices, as reflected by a growing number of comments and objections directed at your administrators. This is not outside interference; it is internal feedback that should be viewed as an opportunity for self-examination and improvement.

Unlike DPT, DTU firmly believes in the right of members to express their opinions. However, this freedom ends where targeting, disparagement, and harassment begin. Engaging in the same wrongful behavior that you have permitted would make us no better than you. Therefore, we will not lower ourselves to that standard. DTU will not tarnish its reputation by engaging in petty retaliation.

We urge DPT to review these matters and ensure its policies are applied consistently and fairly. DTU values professionalism, respect, and cooperation among all groups serving the Deaf trucking community, and we hope to see this situation resolved constructively.

The truth is clear: DPT has already damaged its own credibility through its actions. DTU will continue to uphold our mission, guided by integrity, accountability, fairness, and respect. These values set us apart and are the foundation of trust placed in us by our members and the broader Deaf trucking community.

To ensure fairness and integrity across all platforms, DTU materials must not be reproduced or redistributed without permission. It is time for DPT to take responsibility, acknowledge its mistakes, and hold itself to the same standards it demands of others. Until then, the burden of mistrust and damaged credibility rests squarely on DPT.

DTU remains committed to professionalism, fairness, and cooperation. We encourage all groups and community members to uphold standards that protect the integrity of our shared mission: advancing opportunities and respect for Deaf truckers everywhere.

Sincerely,

The DTU Team
