Brandon Bruton: President
Brandon Bruton has demonstrated a lifelong commitment to leadership, advocacy, and service, beginning in his formative years at the Colorado School for the Deaf and the Blind (CSDB). During high school, he took on several leadership roles, serving on the Student Body Council and being elected as Senior Class President. He was also actively involved in JrNAD and other nonprofit organizations, gaining valuable experience in community engagement, organizational development, and civic responsibility. These early experiences laid the foundation for a career, and a calling, centered around advancing the interests and voices of the Deaf community.
Professionally, Brandon brings over 25 years of experience in the trucking industry, where he has worked in various capacities, gaining firsthand insight into the challenges and opportunities faced by Deaf drivers. He has participated in several FMCSA roundtables and has contributed to key discussions surrounding hearing waiver policies, advocating for more equitable and inclusive practices within the industry. His longstanding involvement with Deaf Truckers United (DTU), where he has served as a Sergeant and most recently as President, reflects his unwavering commitment to improving conditions for Deaf truckers nationwide.
Despite holding high-ranking titles, Brandon’s approach to leadership is grounded in humility, empathy, and service. He places little importance on hierarchy or personal recognition. For Brandon, leadership is not defined by a title, it is measured by the impact one makes in the lives of others. His central mission is to foster unity within the organization, promote fairness, and create a space where every member feels seen, heard, and valued. He believes that authentic leadership comes from lifting others up, cultivating trust, and championing a shared vision that empowers all members to grow and contribute.
Brandon is especially passionate about ensuring that all individuals, regardless of their background, experience, or level of ability, are treated with dignity, respect, and equality. He is intentional in his efforts to create a culture within DTU that welcomes diverse perspectives and encourages active participation from every member. His leadership reflects a deep-rooted belief that the true strength of an organization lies in its people, their voices, their stories, and their collective power to create change.
Through his tireless advocacy, inclusive mindset, and heartfelt dedication to the Deaf truckers community, Brandon continues to serve as a source of inspiration and a catalyst for progress. His vision and actions are helping to shape a more just and unified future for Deaf professionals in the trucking industry and beyond.
What People Say About Him
One of the best leadership I have ever witnessed. Calm, composed, and professional, he demonstrates the qualities of a true gentleman. His caring nature and willingness to be present and supportive make him stand out as a leader who not only guides but genuinely inspires those around him.
I am truly impressed. Although he does not personally hold a hearing waiver, he has stepped forward to advocate on behalf of the entire Deaf trucker community. He has grown weary of hearing about the ongoing issues surrounding the hearing waiver and has decided that it is time for change.
I had heard many things about him from others, but after meeting and getting to know him, I realized none of it was accurate, in fact, it was the complete opposite. He is easy to talk to, and I know I can always reach out to him with any questions or concerns about my hearing waiver. Truly, he is one of the best.
