Rick Piros: Trustee
Rick Piros is a dedicated entrepreneur and advocate whose life and career reflect resilience, determination, and a commitment to breaking barriers. Born with hearing loss of unknown origin, Rick is technically Hard of Hearing. He spent twelve years in speech therapy and began studying American Sign Language (ASL) in eighth grade. Today, he embraces both spoken and signed communication while championing accessibility for Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals.
Rick’s intellectual curiosity has guided his academic and professional journey. He scored in the top 2% nationally on the LSAT and earned a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from the Rochester Institute of Technology. Throughout his career, he has contributed to Fortune 100 projects while maintaining a strong interest in technology, law, finance, and politics.
Rick’s entrepreneurial spirit has led him across multiple industries. He began as a company truck driver and later purchased his own truck, which he has personally operated for over 600,000 miles while keeping it in excellent condition. He has built strong working relationships with longshoremen and port superintendents at the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, allowing him to manage logistics with efficiency and professionalism. Beyond trucking, Rick has also owned and operated successful construction, auto repair, and computer consulting businesses.
As a registered SBA 8(a) Disadvantaged Business owner and a trustee of Deaf Truckers United, Rick demonstrates leadership, independence, and dedication to creating opportunities for others. His story is a powerful example of overcoming barriers, building partnerships, and proving that hard work and vision can create meaningful change for Deaf truckers and the broader community.
